LIGHT!

Without it, I'd be sad...

I love light. I'd say it is NUMBER UNO on the master list for photographers.

There are so many ways of using it! My favorite, however, is the "romantic,soft light."

Seriously,it rocks my socks off.

Sunbursts can really add a lot to an image.
That being said, they are a little tricky to achieve and sometime take a little while.

Had a blast with Miss J! She and I actually use to work together. She really brought her A game to the shoot with her point shoes. LOVE IT!

At our first location stop, we stepped out of the car and were instantly attacked by mosquitoes! I mean welts all over the place! She sure was a trooper.

Last night, Mr. A and I were getting ready for bed, I had gotten offended for some reason or another.

(when it gets late, I get cranky, enough said.)

While laying in bed in my pouty state, I caught myself thinking,

"hmmm, how can I make him smile tomorrow?"

Literally, that was my thought!

I don't know about you, but when I get upset, that is not my first thought, or second...

Anyway, right after I caught myself, Mr. A rolls over and gives me a hug and a kiss, he tells me that he loves me.

Right then I melted
(I usually do.)

I'm doing an engagement session this weekend for my good friend Mandy.
Engagement sessions are possibly my favorite sessions, because they are all about

L-O-V-E.

Every time I do one, it makes me want to come home and crawl into bed with Mr. A and have a good snuggle day.

Oh, I heart those days!

A loooong time ago and old boyfriend of mine said to me

"... you're in love with the idea of love."

he wasn't happy with me and I'm sure he meant for that statement to get me upset, but it's true.

I love the idea of LOVE.

The idea of giving your heart to one person for eternity and trusting them completely. The idea of accepting and being accepted, even with every little flaw!

When Mr. A and I met, I spent a lot of time chasing after him. That is not really in my nature, I was always the girl that waited for the guy to call or make the first move.

I just knew I needed this guy in my life.

I've been tremendously blessed since that day.

What to Wear

Here are some tips on getting that perfect outfit together for your shoot...

{one: color coordinate}

color coordinate without matching one another too much
find a color or two and use different shades on everyone
coordinate colors without everyone wearing pants (e.g. girls in dresses)
try not to overdo the colors you choose, trying have some people in the picture just have a slight color pop (e.g. red shirt popping out of a blazer or bring out your color in just accessories)

{two: don’t be afraid}

don’t be afraid to use patterns
find one or two fun patterns and use that as your base
if one or two people in the picture are in patterns, the rest should be in coordinating solids to match

{three: redo the traditional}

go simple and traditional but add something new
do traditional colors in a trendy fashion
do white or black with fun accessories or props
go simple clothing but use a bright and fun location

{four: go for style}

use bright colors
get fun shoes (colorful shoes, impractical shoes, boots)
accessories (hats, scarfs, hair pieces, belts, glasses, dogs?)
layer
go vintage

after all this just remember that pictures are meant to capture you and your family, so be you!
if you are a casual family, go casual. if you love style, go stylish!
bring props that capture you, your family, or your kids. (cute bikes, guitars, wagons, fun skirts for girls)

What to Expect

The goal of my sessions is to capture the beauty and spirit of my subjects and the relationships that exist in the family. All of my sessions are done on location in your home or at an outside location that we agree on. I believe natural light is the best, because of this, shoots are mostly done in late afternoons around sunset.

Please look through my portfolio and make sure you are happy with my style. I do not rush my clients in any manner and don't mind taking breaks so a child can eat, have a snack and rest a bit before we start to shoot again. My wish is to create a natural, stress- free environment where you or your child can feel relaxed and comfortable.

I ask that you do not bring sick children to shoots. It isn't fair to them or you to expect great pictures when they are feeling less than fantastic. Also, the same applies to a child having a bad day. If they seem extremely grumpy we can reschedule without a problem.

Where are the rest of our photos?

You may think that during your session that I have taken hundreds of pictures, you're right! Yet, you get 20-30 images. What happens is I take multiple shots of each pose and I then pick the best images from those poses that meet my standards.
